New P.E.’s!

Congratulations to James Parsons, Alan Yelton, and Justin Cupich for passing the Professional Engineer exam to receive their license for the State of Colorado in 2021!

James Parsons has been with K + A for more than 3 years providing engineering support at our Glenwood Springs office and projects throughout most of western Colorado.  James’ responsibilities include a wide range of geotechnical engineering such as deep pile or pier foundations, subsurface grouting and steep slopes of mountainous terrain and valley bottom.  James also works closely with senior engineering staff and assists with construction monitoring services through completion of the project.  He recently completed Fundamentals of Professional Practice (FOPP), specially designed for geotechnical professionals, placing in the top 5% of his class, furthering his professional expertise and career.

Alan (Al) Yelton has around 7 years of geotechnical engineering experience, of which the past 5 have been with K+A at the Staff and Senior Staff levels. Al is an integral part of our geotechnical engineering team managing a wide variety of projects ranging from multi-unit residential to educational to infrastructure to commercial and industrial. Al also provides On-Site Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) design expertise, office support to our field exploration services, and mentoring to our field and entry-level engineers. Passing the P.E. exam is confirmation of his rapid growth as a consulting engineer and a stepping stone to furthering his career at K+A.

Justin Cupich has been with K+A for more than 7 years, coming to us with a background in construction materials testing. For the first couple of years at K+A, Justin helped manage our Denver soil laboratory before moving into geotechnical engineering a little more than 5 years ago as a Staff then Senior Staff level engineer. Justin manages a wide variety of geotechnical engineering projects ranging from transportation to multi-unit low- and hi-rise residential to infrastructure to commercial and industrial. Justin is K+A’s lead for our Falling Weight Deflectometer testing services as well as the M-E Pavement design approach, and is our resident engineering advisor regarding ASTM, AASHTO, and CDOT laboratory testing procedures. Passing the P.E. exam is confirmation of his rapid growth as a consulting engineer and a stepping stone to furthering his career at K+A.
