DESCRIPTION

  • In 1992, K+A joined the team of ATEC/Kumar to provide quality control and soils and materials testing at Coors Field.  The project included:
    • Placing 63,000 cubic yards of concrete,
    • Performing 2,300 temperature, slump, air, and unit weight tests,
    • Testing 9,200 concrete specimens,
    • Excavating 181,000 cubic yards,
    • Testing 86,000 cubic yards of fill for classification, moisture, and density, and backfilling.
  • K+A also performed a dewatering study for a 70-foot by 82-foot storm water vault that collects and stores between 95 and 190 gpm of storm water runoff from the playing field.
  • The study addressed the installation of well points and sheet piling prior to excavating approximately 30 feet, about 5 feet below the existing ground water level.
